In St.Columba’s we are very proud of being pro-active in the field of Information Technology. This was recognised in 2006 when we obtained the prestigious “Digi Schools Award.”
As a recognised centre of excellence in promoting computer literacy, we ensure that every child form Junior Infants to Sixth Class has a weekly session in our well-equipped computer room. All children are truly hands on from their first session with “P.B. Bear” through to creating their own power point presentation. Our children follow a developmental programme that hones their computer skills from play to proficiency. We have many varied computer programmes and make great use of educational websites. We even keep in touch with our Comenius partners in Norway, Belgium and Italy via the web.
We have interactive white boards in all classrooms. Gone are the days of “chalk and talk. Our state-of-the-art interactivewhiteboards are a great stimuli and source of enjoyment for pupils and teachers alike and truly bring our school into the 21st century.
We recently took delivery of three KidSmart units which are set up in the Junior School. What lucky pupils we have here at St.Columba’s!
