Sports

Here in St.Columba’s we believe that school involves more than just learning academic subjects. We encourage pupils to become involved in a wide variety of sporting activities including camogie, football, tennis, swimming, pitch and putt, chess, basketball, tag, rugby, rounders, athletics, hockey and gymnastics. We also enjoy both Irish dancing and creative dance.

Our participation in competitive sports has met with great success over the years including many trophies in the Sciath na Scol football and camogie finals, swimming trophies as well as City Sports achievements. We are delighted to have some representatives at the National Finals of the Schools Swimming Competition on a yearly basis.

We have had great success in the Sciath na Scol competitions, reaching the Finals every year for the past ten years and winning outright on numerous occasions.

One of the highlights of our school calendar is School Sports Day when the children and parents enjoy participating in fun based activities for the day.

We are very proud of our past pupil Derval O’Rourke who began her successful running career here in St. Columbas.
